At the mid elevations cooling temperatures will be decreasing the wet snow avalanche hazard. At the upper elevations new snow and strong southwesterly winds will begin to create isolated pockets of shallow wind slab along the higher ridge crests. These small new slabs could build to depths of 5 to 10 inches by the end of the day. They will form on slick old snow surfaces and are likely to be sensitive to human triggers. Watch for unstable snow in isolated terrain features. The lower elevations have insufficient snow depths to produce avalanche activity.

Periods of light snowfall are possible to the valley level until skies begin to clear after midnight. Skies will become partly cloudy on Tuesday. Temperatures will drop into the teens tonight and rise into the 20s in the mountains and into the 30s in the valleys during the day. Northwesterly winds will decrease to around 5 to 10 miles per hour and back towards the southwest.Temperatures in the teens will end the wet snow avalanche hazard. At the upper elevations isolated pockets of soft slab 6 to 12 inches in depth could be human triggered in very steep avalanche starting zones and cliff areas. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations.
