Avalanche Problems

Loose Dry

Loose snow avalanches involving last week's storm snow are possible in steep alpine terrain. Surface hoar buried in 25cm of storm snow may be easily triggered by skiers producing fast moving sluffs in steep treeline areas.

Aspects: North, North East, East.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 2

Wind Slabs

Recent ridge top winds from the south reached loading values. There is sufficient unconsolidated storm snow available for transport. This has likely created isolated areas of wind slab on northerly aspects in the alpine.

Aspects: North, North East, East.

Elevations: Alpine.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 3
