Snowpack Summary

Cold temps have facetted and softened previous wind effect from extreme southerly winds. Cold has also weakened cornices which have grown substantially during the past couple of storms. Surface hoar growth has been observed in to the alpine. Steep solar slopes have a thin sun crust. And, low density snow (good skiing) persists in sheltered areas.

Avalanche Summary

One new small natural avalanche was observed in the highway corridor yesterday.

There have been several reports of natural cornice failures recently; pay attention to what's overhead when choosing stopping spots, and give cornices a wide berth when traveling on ridges.
