Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of windslab will be present on North to East aspects above 900 metres, these will be more isolated on South-East and North-West aspects. Although mostly shallow, accumulations will remain poorly bonded. Areas most affected will be wind sheltered, steep and convex locations such as corrie rims, flanks, gully exits and crag aprons. Elsewhere the old snowpack will be firm, well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: No precipitation expected with sunny conditions during the day. Strong South-Westerly winds will back to become Southerly in direction by the afternoon. The freezing level will linger at around 900 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Snowfall cleared to leave a dry morning followed by some light snow showers during the early afternoon. Winds were strong West-South-Westerly. The freezing level at midday was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of windslab have developed on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Isolated windslab has developed on South-East aspects. Although mostly shallow, these accumulations are poorly bonded. Areas most affected are wind sheltered, steep and convex locations such as corrie rims, flanks, gully exits and crag aprons. Elsewhere the old snowpack is firm, well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
