Forecast Snow Stability: Cold conditions will maintain in-depth weaknesses where both older and recent windslab exists on steeper slopes. Areas most affected will be in sheltered gullies and steep scarp slopes with a North-Easterly through East to Southerly aspect above 900 metres. Areas clear of windslab will be stable with firm snow becoming icy in places. Cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: A clear dry day is expected on Friday. The strong Westerly winds will decrease through the night becoming light to moderate generally from an Easterly to South-Easterly direction. The freezing level will start the day around 500 metres rising to 700 metres by evening. Observed Weather Influences: Strong, generally Westerly winds today, and snow showers, heavy at times have affected the area. The freezing level was around 400 metres. Summit temperatures around -3 centigrade. ObservedSnowStability: New snow and wind transport of existing snow have formed areas of unstable windslab in sheltered locations, greatest accumulations are mainly in sheltered gullies and on slopes with a North-Easterly through East to Southerly aspect above 850 metres. Fragile cornices exist above some of these aspects. Stability on windward slopes is generally good becoming icy in places. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
