Avalanche problems

  • Wind slab

    • Above 1,700 m

Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger.

The wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. Wind slabs can be released, mostly by large loads in isolated cases. On wind-loaded slopes mostly small avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. On steep south facing slopes thus far only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Over a wide area wind and new snow at low altitude.
