Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will thaw at all levels, becoming wet throughout, and will diminish, particularly at lower to mid elevations. Some early wet snow instability possible in isolated pockets of recent windslab, notably where it gains depth. The firm older snowpack will have good stability with some surface softening expected. Cornices will become fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be a day of persistent heavy rain at all levels, preceded by a little summit snow Wednesday evening. There will be a strengthening South-Westerly airflow, becoming strong and gusty by the afternoon. The freezing level will rise and remain well above the summits during this evening. Observed Weather Influences: A cloudy day with isolated wintry showers and a moderate Westerly to North-Westerly wind. Freezing level was around 800 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: Isolated pockets of windslab exist in wind sheltered locations such as crag aprons, in gullies and runnels, mainly above 700 metres on North-East through East to South aspects. Otherwise, the refrozen old snowpack remains well consolidated and firm. Wind exposed terrain is scoured and icy in places. The avalanche hazard is Low.
