Forecast Snow Stability: Redistribution of existing snow will lead to soft fresh windslab developing in sheltered locations on mainly North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres. Wind sheltered steep terrain such as gully exits and scarp slopes will be particularly affected. Isolated pockets of windslab will also persist on other aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level is expected to remain below 600 metres with light snowfall at times, otherwise dry. Winds will strengthen throughout from the South-West. Observed Weather Influences: A cold bright start becoming cloudier from lunchtime. Winds were generally light but started to increase in strength early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: There are areas of unstable windslab on most aspects above 800 metres. Deeper accumulations persist on South-East and South aspects. Steep wind sheltered terrain is particularly affected. Snow at lower levels is consolidating with exposed ridges often clear of snow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
