Forecast Snow Stability: The snow will soften and thaw at all levels and aspects as the freezing level rises. Wet snow instabilities will be present on West through North to East aspects above 600 metres. While localised, these instabilities will affect steep, wind-sheltered terrain such as corrie headwalls, tops of gullies and below ridge crests. Cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong South-East winds are expected to ease and veer becoming South-West overnight. Later, the wind will back becoming moderate Easterly. Scattered showers forecast in the evening and late afternoon, falling as snow only on the highest tops. The freezing level will remain around summit levels throughout the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: Winds were moderate East-South-East. A clear start followed by continuous snowfall above 200 metres. The freezing level remained around 400 metres until mid-afternoon, then began to rise sharply. ObservedSnowStability: There are fresh deposits of weakly bonded windslab on West through North to East aspects above 600 metres. These instabilities are localised, affecting areas such as corrie rims, gullies and below ridge crests. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
