Forecast Snow Stability: A period of wet snow instability is expected overnight with steep slopes and gullies with a North to East aspects above 900 metres being most affected. Cornices will be prone to collapse. Stability will improve during the day as the snowpack consolidates in the colder conditions. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight it will be mild with the freezing level well above the summits and precipitation falling as rain at all levels. During the day the freezing level will be around 900 metres. Winds will be from the South. Observed Weather Influences: It was a wild day with storm force South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 1000 metres. There were some showers during the morning which fell as wet snow above 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has generally been consolidating in the fluctuating temperatures of recent days. However, fresh deposits of windslab have been deposited during the morning on mainly wind sheltered North to East aspects above 950 metres. These areas were not particularly extensive or deep. Below 950 metres the snowpack continues to thaw and is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
