Avalanche Activity

In particular in the regions that are exposed to the foehn wind light precipitation. Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas along the border with France.

Light snowfall to intermediate altitudes: This applies in particular along the border with France. Some fresh snow as well as local small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. Along the border with France the avalanche danger is one level higher. In some places the avalanches can be released in the large-grained old snow and reach medium size. This applies in particular in case of a large load.

Snowpack Structure

Some snow will fall in particular along the border with France. Over a wide area less snow than usual is lying. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes.
