Avalanche danger is minimal with an inch or two of snow over a refrozen crust. Expect challenging travel as the surface may be a supportable crust, or it may be breakable and punchy. Keep early season hazards such as creeks, rocks and stumps on your radar. 

Expect to find an inch or two of heavy snow over a refreezing rain crust, or just a refrozen crust further east. You may be able to break through this crust in some areas, but not in others. Conditions may be quite icy in some areas. About 0.75" of rain has recently soaked into the snowpack up to the highest elevations in the zone. Glide avalanches could still occur in those few locations where snow sits over rock slabs. Keep in mind what is above you if traveling under large slopes or rocky outcrops. 

Our early season snowpack that was looking healthy has shrunk down and melted quite a bit, so early-season hazards should be expected. Watch for open creeks, rock, buried logs, and small trees. These obstacles can make travel challenging and cause injuries if you run into them. 

During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, continue to follow the latest guidance from local, state, and federal health officials. Avoid unnecessary risks that could impact first responders and stress medical resources.  Wear a mask when appropriate, practice social distancing, and consider recreating closer to home.
