Avalanche Activity

Low, level 1.

The snowpack is well consolidated and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. Wind-loaded slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are precarious. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads in particular in gullies and bowls. In many places there is a danger of falling on the hard crust. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions a little snow is lying. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night was quite good. The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls in all aspects and generally at elevated altitudes.
