As a consequence of warming wet loose snow avalanches are possible. The wind slabs can be released easily in some places in particular on steep shady slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution and restraint.
The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some cases on very steep sunny slopes. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a treacherous avalanche situation will develop. These conditions will cause a weakening of the snowpack in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in terrain. This applies in particular on steep south, southwest and west facing slopes above the tree line.
