New snow and wind slabs as the day progresses.

The small quantity of fresh snow and in particular the small wind slabs that are being formed by the northerly wind can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally in all aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. The fresh wind slabs are clearly recognisable. As a consequence of solar radiation loose snow slides are to be expected at any time. In addition a latent danger of gliding avalanches exists. Backcountry touring calls for meticulous route selection.

Some snow will fall until Monday over a wide area. The northerly wind will transport the new snow. The weather will be cold. As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural activity of wet avalanches will appreciably increase. The covering of new snow is dry. The old snowpack is moist and its surface has a crust that is barely capable of bearing a load. At intermediate and high altitudes there is still a very large amount of snow. At high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tuesday: By the middle of the day the wind slabs will increase in size moderately. As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be a gradual increase in the danger of moist avalanches.
