Forecast Snow Stability: Initially localised unstable windslab will persist on North through East to South aspects above 1000 metres with coire rims and gully exists most affected. Cornices will remain unstable. As it turns cooler stability in these locations will gradually improve especially below 1000 metres. During the afternoon, above 800 metres, accumulations of new windslab will develop on North to East aspects, these will be isolated and generally avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: During the night there will be a brief mild spell as the freezing level rises to above the summits for a short period, before falling to 800 then later 600 metres. Strong to gale force, South-South-Westerly winds will veer Westerly. Some light precipitation falling as snow above 600 metres is expected during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A cold day with occasional light snow showers on moderate to strong Westerly winds. The midday freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of unstable windslab are present on North through East to South aspects above 800 metres. The greatest instability is in steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops, and coire rims. Recently developed cornices are fragile. Elsewhere the old snowpack is firm well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
