Avalanche Activity

Wet snow requires caution. As a consequence of the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase in particular on sunny slopes.

In particular intermediate and high altitudes as well as in places that are protected from the wind: Soft wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in areas close to the tree line. In particular steep sunny slopes and base of rock walls: Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large dry and moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of the strong northwesterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed during the last few days. The strong wind has transported the fresh and old snow. In particular in the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunny slopes: Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise from early morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes. Since Friday the weather has been very mild. In particular below the tree line: The surface of the snowpack will freeze very little and will already be soft in the early morning.
