Avalanche Problems

Loose Wet

Considerable amounts of remnant snow can found above 1800m on many of the popular hiking routes and scrambles. Natural and human triggered avalanches are possible during warm or wet periods of weather while moist or wet surface snow can be found.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 2

Cornices

Many remnant cornices can still be seen along ridge lines in the park. Warm or wet periods of weather can weaken these features considerably and cause failure.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South, South West.

Elevations: Alpine.

Likelihood: Possible
