Avalanche Problems
Storm Slabs
A strong storm cycle (pineapple express) is forecasted to move in tomorrow. Strong SW winds, warmer temperatures and 10-15cm of snow will create a new storm snow instability tomorrow and Wednesday. This may re-awaken the Nov. 7 Surface Hoar layer.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
Likelihood: Possible
Expected Size: 1 - 3
Persistent Slabs
A surface hoar layer (Nov. 7) is buried up to 100 cm deep. It has become less sensitive to skier triggering but remains a concern. Snowpack tests give sudden planar results. Avalanches triggered in upper layers may step down to this persistent layer.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
Likelihood: Possible
Expected Size: 1 - 3
