Mountain temperatures dipped below freezing overnight allowing the surface of the snowpack to setup, creating stable avalanche conditions early in the morning. Clear skies, calm winds and very warm temperatures will quickly thaw the snow surface and create unstable avalanche conditions as the snowpack continues to melt. At the mid and upper elevations, the general avalanche hazard is LOW in the early morning hours, rising to MODERATE before noon, and then to CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon. As the day heats up, naturally occurring wet loose slides will be likely along with the chance of deeper wet slabs and cornices releasing spontaneously. Avoid travel in and below avalanche terrain once the upper portion of the snowpack becomes unconsolidated and rotten. This forecast does not extend to terrain above an elevation of 10,500 feet. Very little snow exists at the lower elevations.
