Low hazard does not mean no hazard. At the upper elevations isolated pockets of shallow wind slab formed by northerly winds exist and in isolated areas on shaded aspects, pockets of dense slab up to two feet in depth could be human triggered in extreme terrain. Yesterday a skier who was hiking on a southerly aspect near the summit of Angle Mountain triggered a shallow wind slab on a steep slope. Similar events are possible today and could knock a person over and sweep them over a cliff or into steep rocky areas. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations.

A ridge of high pressure will move from the Eastern Pacific into Wyoming over the weekend. Strong thermal inversions will develop under this ridge. On Friday skies will be mostly sunny with temperatures rising into the 20s and light winds from the west-northwest.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW, however low hazard does not mean no hazard. At the higher elevations isolated pockets of shallow wind slab formed by northerly winds exist along exposed ridges. On steep, northerly aspects above 9,500 feet some potential persists for humans to trigger pockets of dense slab up to two feet in depth. Avalanches are unlikely elsewhere.
