Avalanche Summary

New snow and wind elevate the avalanche hazard near and above treeline. Avalanche danger is directly correlated to how much new snow fell. The most dangerous areas will be where you find new snow drifted into cohesive slabs more than a foot thick on steep slopes at upper elevations. Be on the lookout for these drifts below ridge lines on leeward slopes and in steep, rocky, cross-loaded couloirs.

Safer travel can be found in wind-sheltered areas and on lower-angled slopes.
