You can trigger a large avalanche, which may step down to the ground on slopes with recently drifted snow. These slopes will look pillowy and firm and may crack under you. You will find these areas below ridgelines and along gullies. Shallow slopes with many rocks and trees sticking out are where you are most likely to trigger a deeper avalanche. You will not get any warning signs, and multiple people could ride a slope before you find a weak area. You can find safer riding on slopes less than about 30 degrees.
