Skiers and riders may still be able to trigger persistent slab avalanches up to three feet in depth on faceted snow that developed in November and early December. There is a substantial amount of spatial variability of these weak layers throughout the forecast zone. Faceted snow in deeper snowpacks is in the process of rounding, and shallow snowpacks can be comprised of weak, faceted snow from near the top to the bottom.
