The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released in isolated cases and generally at elevated altitudes. Especially shady slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are unfavourable. Low and intermediate altitudes as well as wind-protected sunny slopes: The snowpack is favourably layered.
