Only isolated avalanche prone locations at high altitudes

The avalanche risk is generally low. Isolated avalanche prone locations can be found at high altitudes in extremely steep gullies in the northern sector, where large additional loads can occasionally trigger smaller slab avalanches. The danger of falling dominates over the danger of avalanches!

The snow surface is mostly hard and icy, with slopes up to over 2000 metres above sea level on sunny slopes. A few centimetres of new fallen snow were added on Wednesday. Below the melting snow crust, kinetic metamorphism is weakening the snow layering on the northern sides.

Saturday night will be clear, with fog forming in places only at low altitudes. During the day it will be very mild with good visibility. The temperature at 2000 metres will be 4 to 5 degrees and the wind will blow moderately to briskly, shifting from northeast to northwest during the day. On Sunday it will be much colder and the wind will be stronger.

The avalanche danger will remain low in the coming days.
