The fresh snow and the sometimes large wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above the tree line. Backcountry touring calls for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and restraint.
The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. Over a wide area the wind slabs will increase in size additionally.

The fresh snow as well as the many extensive wind slabs can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above the tree line. They can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant,. Avalanches can additionally to some extent be released in deeper layers. Small to medium-sized avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. These avalanche prone locations are quite prevalent and are barely recognisable for beginners. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible in isolated cases. Gliding avalanches can also occur.
As a consequence of snowfall and the wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed. The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. In particular places where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially critical.
