Avalanche Activity

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already exist in the early morning.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches within the current danger level. In particular in northwest to north to northeast facing aspects small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses. The mostly small wind slabs remain in some cases prone to triggering at high altitude. These can be released in isolated cases, especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas on very steep slopes. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall above approximately 2800 m. In these regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. On sunny slopes as well as below approximately 2300 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack over a wide area. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be severely restricted. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes. Tendency

As a consequence of the precipitation there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.
