Avalanche Activity

Watch out for slabs of new snow!

In the high altitudes of the Low Tatras a low avalanche danger (1st degree) has been declared. During the last period of snowfall, the past two days, up to 10 cm of new snow fell very locally. Strong northerly winds are expected on the mountains above the forest zone, which will transport this snow to the leeward slopes of southern orientations. Here, unstable snow slabs and pillows will form, especially under saddles, rock walls, in moguls and steep couloirs.

Snowpack Structure

At altitudes up to 1500 m above sea level, there is only patchy snow cover.

Tendency

No change.
