Forecast Snow Stability: The existing wet snowpack will refreeze and become stable. Fresh areas of unstable windslab will form in areas sheltered from the Westerly winds. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North, North-East, East and South-East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers will occur throughout the period, initially above 600 metres but gradually lowering to 300 metres later. Winds will be strong, mainly from a Westerly direction. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level rose above the summits early on Wednesday and has since fluctuated between 900 metres and 1200 metres. Showers throughout the period with strong South-Westrly winds ObservedSnowStability: After a period of wet snow instability early on Wednesday, the snowpack has started to consolidate. Localised areas on unstable snow are still present, mainly on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 950 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
