As a consequence of the northeasterly wind the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.
As a consequence of a freshening wind from northeasterly directions, further wind slabs will form in the course of the day. These can in some places be released, even by a single winter sport participant. In particular on steep slopes the avalanches can be released in the various wind slab layers and reach large size in isolated cases. Several mostly small natural dry avalanches are possible on very steep slopes. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Backcountry touring calls for careful route selection.
In some regions 10 to 15 cm of snow fell yesterday above approximately 1600 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from northeasterly directions, further wind slabs will form. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Over a wide area various wind slab layers are lying on a hard crust. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
