NC for 2/3/22 Old snowpack firm and stable throughout. Isolated, shallow windslab W to N aspects above 950m. Aval Hazard will be Low

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain firm, well-bonded and generally stable on all aspects and altitudes above 600 metres. Isolated accumulations of shallow windslab will be re-distributed on West to North aspects above 950 metres. These accumulations will be localised and generally avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Temperature inversion conditions are expected with no precipitation, giving a dry day with extended periods of sunshine. Fog developing by late afternoon. South-South-East winds will steadily gain strength to be near gale force by early morning and storm force by the end of the forecast period. The freezing level will remain at the snowline. Observed Weather Influences: Strong overnight West-South-West winds easing by early morning to give a calm day with prolonged periods of sunshine. The freezing level was around 600 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack has consolidated in the colder overnight temperatures and is firm, well bonded and stable on most aspects and altitudes. Localised, shallow windslab accumulations were present on wind sheltered North-East and East aspects above 950 metres. These accumulations were isolated and avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
