Highlights
The avalanche danger starts out generally LOW this morning but will rise to MODERATE with daytime heating. Natural wet avalanche activity is possible as the day goes on especially on sunny slopes and all aspects in the mid and lower elevations. Move off of and stay out from underneath steep slopes as they heat up today and become mushy. There may be a few wind drifts that formed along the higher ridges on Sunday that may be sensitive to a person yet today.
Special Announcement
Huntington Canyon is still currently closed due to natural avalanches that released and blocked the road with debris. It is closed from the Miller Flat parking lot down to Crandall Canyon. UDOT is working to clear avalanche debris this morning but with numerous avalanches across the road and lots of debris to move, it may not open again today.
Snow and Weather
Overnight temperatures were as cool as we've seen over the last few days with lows in the lower 20s. West wind on Sunday was a bit stronger than I anticipated and it definitely drifted snow along the higher ridges.
We'll see clear skies and ridgetop high temperatures up near 40 today. Tuesday looks warmer and Wednesday perhaps even a bit warmer.
