Avalanche Summary

The most dangerous areas are drifted slopes close to ridgelines. Here, you can still trigger an avalanche from a distance or the base of a slope. Obvious signs of instability like cracking and collapsing are disappearing, but if you step onto a steep slope, you can still trigger a large, deadly avalanche. Look for safer riding on slopes sheltered from the wind without a slab or on lower-angle slopes.
