Avalanche Summary

Recent winds built slabs on lee slopes at upper elevations. Cohesive slabs of snow sit over weak layers in the middle and bottom of the snowpack. Drifted areas, which should be avoided, often look smooth and rounded and sometimes sound hollow. Recent avalanche activity, cracking, or collapsing are signs of unstable snow and a good indication to avoid steep slopes. You can find safer riding conditions in lower-elevation terrain sheltered by the wind.
