New snow and strong winds have formed surface slabs in the backcountry at all elevations in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain. Backcountry riders and skiers will be able to trigger pockets of these slabs. These slabs will be largest near ridge crests where they have depths to over one foot early this morning and may increase in size and sensitivity as strong winds and some snowfall continue today.

Snow showers over the peaks of Western Wyoming are forecasted for Tuesday night with light accumulations. A north to northwest flow will continue into Wednesday with a chance of occasional snow showers. Low temperatures Wednesday morning will be in the single digits and mountain highs will only reach the low teens. Ridgetop winds will be 10 to 15 m.p.h. from the north-northwest.Pockets of surface slabs or sloughs to 18 inches in depth could be triggered in steep, lee areas or cross-loaded ridges. The avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate in the Tetons and Greys River areas Wednesday and Low in the Togwotee Pass region Wednesday.
