Soft surface slabs to two feet in depth could easily be triggered today in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain at the mid and high elevations. The remote chance also exists to trigger deeper hard slabs to depths of five feet. Avalanches at low elevations are ulikely today except in isolated pockets.

Periods of snow will continue overnight and gradually taper to lighter snowfall during the day and into Friday night. This snowfall is expected to be more significant at the higher elevations. Ridge crest winds will be westerly at 20 to 30 miles per hour with higher gusts. Mountain temperatures will rise into the teens.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE. Soft surface slabs up to three feet in depth and older hard slabs up to five feet in depth could release naturally or be triggered by backcountry travelers.
