You can trigger a dangerous slab avalanche, and they can grow large enough to bury you. Wind-drifted slopes are the most dangerous, but take extra caution on any slope with a buried weak layer. Evaluate the snow carefully and avoid features of concern. The easiest way to reduce your chances of getting caught in an avalanche is to avoid traveling on or underneath slopes steeper than about 30 degrees.
