Avalanche Summary

The most dangerous avalanche conditions are on recently wind-drifted slopes in the southern portion of the Sawatch Range near Monarch Pass. Other areas have dangerous slopes too, but with less recent snow, slabs are thinner and avalanches are smaller. You are most likely to trigger avalanches from thinner areas around rocks and trees.

Careful snowpack evaluations and cautious route-finding is advised including avoiding traveling in the runout of steep wind-drifted slopes.
