Avalanche Summary

Dangerous avalanche conditions exist from the Grand and Battlement Mesas to Huntsman Ridge. You can easily trigger an avalanche on northerly and east-facing aspects. You can trigger these avalanches from below a slope or from a distance away and they can grow large enough to bury you. Sunny, southerly-facing slopes and slopes less than about 30 degrees steep with no similarly steep slopes overhead offer safer travel options.
