Avalanche Summary

A recent large avalanche near Chicago Ridge and natural avalanches near Willow Creek Pass highlight the continued concern for avalanches breaking on deeper weak layers. If you avoid steep, hard wind drifts on large slopes directly below ridgetop, you can greatly reduce your risk to avalanches. Slopes with less wind-affected snow are generally safer.
