Forecast Snow Stability: Weak windslab will become more extensive on steep North through East to South-East aspects above 900m; localised thin accumulations also expected in selected steep locations as low as 800m on same aspects. New weak cornice development over steeper lee slopes. Good stability in most other places. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers throughout the period. Strong West-South- Westerly airflow. Remaining cold. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight rain turned to sleet and light snow showers in the early hours, then dry during the day. Initially mild but much cooler later. Gale force South-South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Weak windslab accumulations began to acquire depth but only in very sheltered, steep North-West through North to North-East aspects above 950m. Good stability in most other places especially heavily scoured locations. Thin breakable crust predominates elsewhere above 650m. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
