Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain at high altitude.

In the last few days the wind was moderate to strong. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at transitions into gullies and bowls. The wind slabs can only be released by large loads in most cases.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of the moderate wind, snow drift accumulations formed. This applies in particular at elevated altitudes. The fresh wind slabs are lying on a crust in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m.
