The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already exist in the early morning. As a consequence of a strong southwesterly wind, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions,, also at a distance from ridgelines. In particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain the prevalence and size of these avalanche prone locations will increase. Some fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger.
