Highlights

Generally safe avalanche conditions exist today. Watch out for blowing snow that could form wind slabs on W-NW-N-NE-E facing slopes near and above tree line.

Avalanche Discussion

With increasing winds out of the SW-S-SE today there's potential for wind slab formation, although there probably isn't widespread snow available for transport due to warm temperatures and sunshine over the past few days, which has consolidated the snow surface near and below treeline. There's more uncertainty above tree line due to limited observations and colder conditions.  Blowing snow was observed near ridgelines yesterday above tree line.

Everitt Memorial Highway (EMH) opened yesterday and will be open today.

Pilgrim Creek and Deer Mountain Snowmobile Parks are OPEN. These are the best places for snowmobiling at this time. Some grooming operations have commenced. Click here for a map and more info
