Avalanche Activity

Locally unstable conditions. Wind slabs from the weekend are gradually stabilizing, but can still be affected in a few leeward slopes in the alpine. Sunshine can cause small naturally releasing wet loose snow avalanches.

Tendency

There is fresh wind-blown snow in lee areas above the thaw limit from the last few days. This is likely well-stabilized, but in a few places, especially to the northeast, it can still be affected by skiers. The amounts of precipitation expected on Tuesday are forecast to be small, and new large fresh wind-blown snow slabs are considered unlikely. However, be aware that varying wind directions mean that wind-blown snow can be found in different compass directions. If the sun comes out, it may weaken the fresh new snow and trigger naturally occurring wet avalanches in steep, sun-exposed terrain.
