Generally low danger but caution urged towards naturally triggered wet-snow, glide-snow avalanches

Boxing Day will bring very mild weather with strong NW winds on the eastern rim of the Alps. Sun will be only intermittent, heavy cloudbanks will pass through frequently, but it will remain dry with good visibility. At 2000 m: +5 degrees.

On Tuesday night temperatures will drop slightly. Wednesday will be pleasant. Avalanche danger will remain low.

Avalanche danger is generally low, but pay close heed to small, naturally triggered wet-snow and glide-snow slides. Danger zones occur on very steep grass-covered slopes, hillsides and in forest clearances. Open glide cracks are indicators of danger, avoid zones below them.

Very irregular snow distribution. Windblown zones are bare, wind-loaded slopes are filled to the brim. The fresh snow and drifts of recent days have settled and are well bonded with the old snow. The snowpack below 2000 m is nearly isotherm, the ground is often wet. The snowpack is gliding downhill over smooth ground.
