Snowpack Summary
Near the summits, and on the north and west slopes, the wind has exposed various crusts and ice. Wind hardened snow is also present on the other slopes.
Below treeline, the storm snow is covered with a melt-freeze crust (except on the north aspects) up to 800m. This one does not support a skier in descent and varies in thickness according to the slope angle and the exposure to the sun. The middle of the snowpack is well consolidated with the crusts of February 17th and January 18th.
In general, the height of the snowpack varies from 80 to 100 cm in the valley to 110 to 160 cm in the middle mountains.
