Freezing levels are forecast to rise to 3200m on wed PM. A weak overnight freeze, means that stability will deteriorate early. Back to winter on Thurs, with10-15cm of snow in the ALP/TL with cooling temps. Start and finish early on wed. IJ

Loose wet slides can be expected on solar aspects, especially in the PM. These slides have the potential to trigger a large slab avalanche on one of the deeper weak layers, and there has been evidence of this occurring in the last few days.

Deep Persistent Slabs

Both the Valentines surface hoar and the basal facets are still causing isolated slides. Areas of most concern are terrain with weak, shallow and variable snow-packs, especially in the PM sun. Large triggers like cornices may also trigger this layer.
