Abajos

The North Creek Road has been closed to wheeled vehicles but there still isn't enough snow in the Abajos for over snow recreation. Since Christmas Eve, the mountains have received 3-6 inches of snow depending on elevation. Snow cover ranges from about 10-13 inches at Camp Jackson and in lower North Creek, to up to 18 inches on upper elevation, northerly aspects. This snow is quite weak, and will form an unstable base for future snow loads. Most south facing terrain is thin to bare. For now, human triggered avalanches are unlikely. We'll update this summary as conditions warrant.
